A day in Manuel Antonio National Park

Are you interested in beautiful beaches and colorful wildlife? Then Manuel Antonio National Park is your place. Surrounded by the ocean and pure nature, this place has everything you would like to explore during your stay in Costa Rica.

History of Manuel Antonio National Park

The story of Manuel Antonio National Park goes back to 1972 when the park was created to protect animals and the rainforest from private development.

How to get to Manuel Antonio National Park

The location of the national park makes it easily accessible – it takes only 90 minutes of driving from our villa, Casa Lujo Caletas. Crossing the crocodile bridge, driving next to several sodas, fruit desks and an amazing landscape, finally you enter the town of Manuel Antonio. Here you can immediately feel the vibes of this magical place, spiced with great ocean view restaurants, nice coast and the wild jungle.

Before entering the park, don’t forget to grab a coconut water and a piece of cinnamon snails from the bakery, right before the entrance – they are simply amazing!

The national park

The national park will amaze you from the very first moment: the paths are beautiful and if you are lucky enough, you probably meet a family of capuchin monkeys right after entering the place. You can choose between having an exercise day or preferring chilling: there is a more difficult hiking path up to a mirador, while if you just simply turn to the left you will find yourself at one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. The park has 4 beaches, located relatively close to each other. They all are beautiful and surrounded by wild nature.

Wildlife of Manuel Antonio National Park

In the park, you can find monkeys, sloths, hummingbirds, snakes, lizards and beautiful butterflies. If you want to have real experience and see as many animals as possible, do not hesitate to ask for a guide.

If you want to grab some food or have a coffee, you can also find a small souvenir shop with a small bar. Don’t forget that you can’t take any food with you to the park.

Manuel Antonio National Park opening times

The park is open from Wednesday to Monday from 7:00 am. to 3:00 pm. It is closed on Tuesdays. Arrive early, the place is incredible and you will never want to leave!

Oh, and just in case, don’t forget to book your tickets in advance!
